Ernest G moll: Returned Soldier

Today we are going to learn about "Returned Soldier" by Ernest G Moll.

The connection I made to the title were he might have gone back to his home or place from a war. The poem was organized by having two stanzas. The tone of the poem was sad but he got out by going in a positive way. The poetic devices I found the poem were: Alliteration: In the poem where it says "all and"it has double a's in the first letter the same as this one: "then the". Hyperbole: Where it says " How wheat turns to gold and copper in old November. Wheat can't turn copper and gold. Simile: it told that "And five years later, one November day, I walked with barry down the stooks of hay Light yellow in the sun, and on them fluttered Rosella's red as apples. Where it said "Rosella's red as apples" it had "as" which is a simile. The author of the poem wanted me to think about the poem on how he escaped by thinking a positive way without having to hesitate. I hope this poem helped. Bye, see you in the next post!
